It spans a 20 kg zipper shell at EUR 15,999 and a 650 kg aluminum vessel with no published price, and most product pages will not tell you which one you actually need. This guide works from published specifications only: who the second seat is for, the soft-versus-hard trade-off, a verified side-by-side table, the clinic math, the room requirements, and the questions to put to any vendor before you sign.

Who a 2-person chamber is actually for
The short answer: Three buyers get real value from a second seat: couples sharing 60–90 minute home sessions, a parent accompanying a child, and operators who can sell two seats per slot. A solo home user is almost always better served by a smaller, cheaper one-person chamber.
The home couple is the cleanest case. Sessions run 60–90 minutes, which is a serious daily time block. When two people share the schedule and the session, the chamber’s cost per user halves, and adherence tends to improve because the appointment is shared. For a couple, a two-person chamber is a utilization decision, not a luxury one.

The parent-and-child case is about supervision, not throughput. A child does not stay in a pressurized chamber alone, so the second seat is what makes the session possible at all. Vendors sell this case hard: OxygenO2, for example, markets its two-person chamber around accompanying a child, a pet, or a companion, yet its page publishes no pressure, dimension, weight, or price figures to build a decision on. If this is your case, treat the spec sheet as the deciding document, not the marketing copy.

Soft vs hard 2-person: the honest trade-off
The short answer: Soft two-person shells cost about EUR 16,000, weigh 20 kg, and cap at 1.3 ATA. Hard-shell two-seaters run from about $125,000, sit in the half-ton weight class, and reach 2.0 ATA. You are trading pressure, durability, and resale value against price and portability.

Durability deserves one honest note. A soft shell is a TPU envelope closed by a zipper, and zippers and seams are wear items; a hard shell is a pressure-rated metal vessel on a routine service schedule. One regulatory note, stated neutrally: in the US, soft chambers are FDA-cleared only for acute mountain sickness, a point physician-authored sources like Hyperbaric Medical Solutions make explicitly, while medical-grade hard chambers carry broader clearances. For non-medical wellness use neither class requires a prescription in most jurisdictions, but the distinction matters for how you market the service.

The short answer: Only one vendor publishes a price (InfraSauna, EUR 15,999), and none publishes a noise figure. Every cell below comes from the vendor’s own product page; “not published” means exactly that.

How to read this table honestly. If your budget is under about EUR 20,000 and 1.3 ATA serves your use case, the InfraSauna is a real, immediately purchasable alternative with a public price, and for many budget-conscious home pairs it is the rational choice. The hard-shell rows are a different product class: 2.0 ATA working pressure, BIBS oxygen delivery, and vessel lifetimes measured in decades. Clinic math: when the second seat pays
The short answer: At 60–90 minutes per session plus turnaround, plan on roughly 5–8 sessions per chamber per day. A second seat doubles revenue per chamber-hour only when pairs arrive together; if they do not, a second one-person chamber with an independent schedule is more flexible.
The math is simple and unforgiving. At $80 per session and six slots a day, a single-seat chamber grosses $480 a day. A two-seater running full pairs grosses $960 on the same slots, the same room, and nearly the same staffing. But that doubling only happens at full second-seat occupancy. At a realistic average occupancy of 1.4 (couples packages plus some solo bookings), the same two-seater grosses about $672 a day: still a 40% lift, not a 100% lift. The second seat pays to exactly the degree that you sell couples and family packages.

Room, power, and delivery reality
The short answer: Budget the room, not just the shell. A hard two-seater needs its footprint plus an external equipment rack (compressors, concentrators, cooler), a floor that carries a half-ton-class chamber plus its accessories, with the exact floor loading confirmed during the site assessment, and a measured delivery path through doors and corridors.
Nobody in this segment totals the equipment list, so here it is. Airvida’s spec sheet lists, outside the chamber itself: two compressors at 35 x 18 x 35 inches each, two oxygen concentrators at 35 x 22 x 43 inches each, and a cooler. A soft shell needs far less (a combined pressure and concentrator unit plus an air cooler beside the 20 kg shell), but it still wants its own ventilated corner.

What to ask your vendor (checklist)
The short answer: Six questions, answered in writing before any deposit: warranty term, noise figure, internal oxygen cutoff, emergency depressurization rate, service network, and whether installation is included.
- Warranty term, in writing. Airvida’s Phoenix page states both a “3-year warranty” and a “1-year warranty” in different places on the same page. That is not necessarily a red flag (different components often carry different terms), but it is exactly why the warranty term belongs in the purchase contract, not on the marketing page.
- A noise figure in dB. Nobody in this segment publishes one. Our T2 runs quiet, at roughly normal-conversation level. If a vendor cannot state a number, ask what they measured and why it is not on the page.
- Internal oxygen safety cutoff. Airvida publishes an internal O2 cutoff at 23.5%. Ask every vendor for theirs; it is the single most important fire-safety number in an oxygen-enriched product.
- Emergency depressurization rate. How fast the chamber returns from full working pressure to surface pressure, and whether the occupant can trigger it from inside.
- Service network. Who services the chamber, where parts ship from, and the contractual response time. A chamber down for six weeks is a revenue problem, not a maintenance detail.
- Installation included or not. Airvida includes free US installation; the T2 includes white-glove install. Many vendors quote it separately, and rigging a half-ton-class vessel is not a DIY line item.
Limitations and open questions
The short answer: This guide compares published specifications, and most vendors publish very little: no prices, no noise figures, and self-reported specs that can change without notice.
- Prices. Most pages in this segment hide pricing behind “contact sales.” The only public number (EUR 15,999, or EUR 13,222 excluding VAT) is a European webshop price; it is not a US landed cost, which adds shipping, duties, and installation.
- Specifications are self-reported. Everything in the comparison table comes from the vendors’ own product pages as of September 2026. Verify against a current written quote before deciding.
- Noise. No third-party noise measurements exist anywhere in this segment; our conversation-level figure is our own specification.

If you can build couples packages, family memberships, or parent-and-child sessions into your offer, the two-seater monetizes a chamber-hour better than anything else on the floor, and the second seat becomes the cheapest capacity you will ever add.
